A pretty primrose quilt & a pretty great giveaway with Fat Quarter Shop!

When I make a quilt for our home, it usually falls into one of two categories: 1) a quilt for daily use and enjoyment, or 2) a “mama’s precious” quilt that everyone in the house better handle with care!  Just ask my people . . . I run a tight ship.

Well, this week I finished a quilt that has caused a third category: 3) a quilt so cute and cheerful I think I must redecorate the guest room so it has a worthy home!

Please say hello to Primrose. This fun pattern is from the book “Fat Quarter Style,” published by It’s Sew Emma (Fat Quarter Shop).  You will likely recognize the happy fabric in this sweet quilt as being Calico Days by Lori Holt for Riley Blake Designs

The color range in Lori\’s line is fantastic and the prints are adorable.  Just look at that spunky red flower below.  It’s almost like she’s waving at us!

I purchased my copy of \”Fat Quarter Style\” over a year ago at my local quilt shop.  This past winter I began piecing the flowers, and I blogged about my progress in January.

This project was set aside often, as quilts with deadlines took priority.  I made a block here and there, and as each flower bloomed, I loved this quilt more and more!

When I finally finished Primrose, I was delighted.  It struck me that it would be a terrific quilt to cheer up a guest room.  Are you starting to see my predicament?  A new quilt for the guest room. . . which might call for repainting the walls a soft butter yellow . . . and buying crisp white linens . . . and repainting the bed frame . . . and sewing up navy buffalo check throw pillows . . . oh and maybe a plaid bed skirt . . . and how about finding a rustic wooden bench with chipped red paint?

You can see it now, can\’t you?  Widely folded at the foot of a country bed? Don’t even get me started on the accessories we would need.  And don’t you dare tell my husband of my plan.  I will have to feed this information to him strategically and carefully, like when he’s watching the Vikings game and not fully listening to me.

The truth of the matter is, I love making quilts of all styles and colors.  Sometimes they match the decor of our home, and sometimes they don\’t and that\’s okay too.  But this time, I think there might be a room transformation in our future. This little gem of a quilt seems like a great inspiration piece to me!

I\’m pretty excited to tell you that the Fat Quarter Shop is sponsoring a giveaway of FIVE of these terrific books!!  Four of them will be stand-alone prizes, and one of them will be paired with this terrific fat quarter bundle: Ghouls & Goodies by Doodlebug Design for Riley Blake Designs!

\”Fat Quarter Style\” includes 12 beautiful patterns, each in varying sizes, and I\’m sure the lucky winner will whip together a fabulous Halloween quilt with this bundle and book! Thank you for your generosity Fat Quarter Shop!

  1. Thank you! When I bought the book, it was because of the Primrose quilt and how I loved it in navy. But I really thought the pretty blues in Calico Days would get lost. Such a quilting quandry. I am pretty happy with the crisp white background. Thanks for entering! 🙂
