Shoofly Crossing in some Fig Tree favorites

Hello quilting friends!  Do you remember my Shoofly Crossing pattern that I released in January? The original quilt featured a sweet pastel fabric collection with fussy cut bunnies.  Today I’m excited to show you Shoofly Crossing in a completely different look, featuring colors and prints that are totally me!

This is Shoofly Crossing in Chestnut Street prints from Fig Tree & Company for Moda. Most of you know by now that I am a Fig Tree nut, and I also love using red, black and green in my quilts.  That color combination always calls to me and seems to fit so nicely in my home.

Shoofly Crossing is a 57\” x 57\” square quilt, which makes it versatile as a throw, a picnic blanket, or even a table topper/table cloth.  I\’m actually thinking this quilt may rest on my kitchen table at Christmas time.  It would look really nice with my distressed black chairs! But for now, I\’m enjoying seeing it thrown over the back of my sofa.

You\’ll notice that I used a subtle text print from the Chestnut Street collection for my background fabric. I\’ve been trying to do that more often, rather than automatically using a solid white or cream.  It adds so much visual interest!

For the binding I used a red gingham from Fig Tree\’s Strawberry Fields Revisited collection. I think I only have a half yard of that gingham left. Bummer! For the backing I used a tan and white geometric print from Fig Tree\’s Coney Island collection. I love how the Fig Tree collections always blend together so well!

The swirly quilting on this piece was done by Barb at Quilts on Broadway.  The soft rolling curves provide a lovely complement to the block pattern. Thank you, Barb!

Shoofly Crossing is available as a paper or electronic (PDF) pattern on my Etsy Shop, but I also encourage you to shop locally or through one of my sponsors whenever possible! Quilt shop owners: wholesale information is available here

Thank you all for your continued readership and support. I am so thankful for all of the quilting friends I\’ve made on this journey.  Now go and get carried away quilting, people!
