The holidays are fast approaching. You’re up to your elbows in present wrapping, tree trimming, and cookie baking. But never fear, quilting friends! There is still time to whip up the perfect hostess gift or stocking stuffer for someone you love. How about a set of homemade wine glass charms stored in a simple but sweet lace zipper pouch?
This cute lace zipper pouch is based on a free tutorial from the Fort Worth Fabric Studio blog. There are three size options. I made the small pouch, which finishes at 6 1/2” x 7 1/2”. The festive reindeer fabric and red lace zipper are also available at Fort Worth Fabric Studio! I customized my pouch by using two different fabrics on the outside.
The homemade wine glass charms were a breeze to make. The actual construction time is just minutes, and it reminded me of a good old-fashioned art project at school. Paper, scissors, glue . . . what more could a kid-at-heart want? I’ll share my process with you below, so you can make some charms yourself.

Homemade Wine Glass Charms
SUPPLIES
Note: These supplies can be found at the larger chain craft stores or online.
- Pendant trays with glass domes (These come in many sizes and colors. I used the 1” round. I found a set of 30 for $10.)
- Earring hoops/wine glass rings (I used the 1” diameter. I found a set of 100 for $5.)
- Scrapbook paper (I used a sheet of Christmas themed card stock cutouts that I had on hand. I would definitely recommend a heavier scrapbook paper. I think thin paper would not look as sharp under the glass once glued down.
- Diamond Glaze glue (Less than $5.)
- Craft knife or scissors (I used my pretty polka dot scissors from Fort Worth Fabric Studio. Hey, our tools should be as cute as the end product, don\’t you think?)
STEPS
1. Find an area of the paper that you want to feature under the glass dome.
2. Apply a thin layer of Diamond Glaze to the back side of the dome. Push out any air bubbles with the glue applicator as you spread it on.
3. Lay your paper on a plastic container lid or wax paper. Center the glass dome on the image. Press down lightly. If excess glue seeps out, you may wipe it away gently with a damp paper towel.
4. Wait 10-15 minutes for it to dry. If the glass dome no longer slides on the paper, it is dry enough to proceed. (Note: Per the wording on the glue bottle, finished drying time for the project is 2-3 hours. However, 10-15 minutes was enough time for me to proceed to the next step.
5. Trim the excess paper with your craft knife or scissors.
6. Apply a thin layer of Diamond Glaze to the pendant tray.
7. Insert the dome and press down lightly. If excess glue seeps out, you may wipe it gently with a damp paper towel.
8. Let the pendant dry for 2-3 hours.
9. Attach the pendant to the earring hoop/wine glass ring.
10. Attach the hoop to the wine glass.
11. Pour a glass of wine and revel in your craftiness!
