I’m popping in today to share my Release 6 block for the 2020 Bloom-Topia quilt along with Fat Quarter Shop. This pretty block is called the Lewis & Clark block, and it finishes at 24″ square.
The center square of this block is 4″ finished (4 1/2″ cut), which is a great size for fussy cutting or using a focal fabric. I selected a lovely navy floral for the center square. I also switched things up a bit on my block, electing to border it with a taupe print rather than a neutral border as called for in the pattern. This taupe border frames the block nicely.
My version of the Bloom-Topia quilt features mostly the Harvest Road collection by Lella Boutique for Moda. I have been using a combination of neutral background prints for my blocks: the neutrals from Harvest Road along with Vanilla Grunge (30150 91).
The original Bloom-Topia quilt designed by Fat Quarter Shop features the Summer Sweet fabric collection by Sherri & Chelsi for Moda. If you would like to make one just like the original, there is still time to purchase a Bloom-Topia kit!
