Can a person have too many pumpkin quilts? Surely the answer is no. Because if the answer is yes, then I’m in big trouble. If you can relate to my predicament, then I’m happy to share my latest pattern with you: Pumpkin Run!
This cute runner finishes at 34 1/2” long by 12 1/2” wide. It’s so quick and fun, you could probably whip one together in a day. The fabric requirements are minimal. You might have everything you need to get started, right there in your stash!
Materials
Orange A (pumpkins and small squares)………………………………………… 1/4 yard
Orange B (star corners)………………………………………………………………. 1/4 yard
Black A (stars)…………………………………………………………………………… 1/3 yard
Black B (sashings)………………………………………………………………………. 1/4 yard
Neutral……………………………………………………………………………………. 1/3 yard
Pumpkin Stumps……………………………………………………………………….. 5” square
Backing……………………………………………………………………………………. 5/8 yard
Binding…………………………………………………………………………………….. 1/3 yard
My sample quilt features fabrics from a few different Moda designers. Both oranges are from Fig Tree & Company. The black, neutral and binding are from Midnight Magic II by April Rosenthal. The black sashing is from Low Volume Wovens by Jen Kingwell.
I designed Pumpkin Run to be a vertical runner, so it could be displayed on a quilt ladder or a skinny wall spot. (Don’t we all have those pesky skinny wall spots?) But you could rotate the pumpkin blocks clockwise if you would like, and make a horizontal runner for your table!
I’m so pleased with the quilting on this little project. When I told Katy of Woods Edge Quilting that I would like a motif that was “linear, simple but interesting,” she knew just what I meant! She suggested a motif called Keryn’s Chevrons, and it was the perfect choice for Pumpkin Run!
Pumpkin Run is available on my Etsy Shop in PDF format. If you make this runner, please be sure to share on Instagram (use the hashtag #pumpkinrunpattern) and also tag me (@taunjalynn). I would love to see your creations!
Thanks for stopping by, quilting friends.
