First snow: Bring out the winter quilts!

We had our first snow of the season today, which was all the signal I needed to bring out two winter quilts for use in our family room. I won’t start my official Christmas decorating until after Thanksgiving, but there’s nothing wrong with embracing the season in the meantime!

The quilt you see in the forefront is my Fat Quarter Lattice Quilt, which is a free tutorial. I completed the top and had it quilted last winter/spring, but I just finished attaching the scrappy binding recently. The lovely quilting you see was done by Starlit Quilts. We chose a panto called Swirling Feathers, which softens all the angles wonderfully.

The quilt you see in the background draped on our sofa is my Buffalo Check Winter quilt, which I released in August of 2020. You can read all about that quilt, including fabric requirements and machine quilting, here: New Pattern: Buffalo Check Winter. Both of these quilts featured Holly Taylor’s “Winter White” collection.

Fat Quarter Lattice and Buffalo Check Winter are two quick and easy projects, but they both make a “less is more” statement that I really enjoy.  For those of you looking to sew down your stash (as I am doing), Fat Quarter Lattice would be a great project for you.

Thanks for stopping by!
