New pattern: Very Gingham Valentine

Happy New Year! I hope 2024 is off to a great start for everyone! I’m popping in today to share a new table runner pattern with you: Very Gingham Valentine. It’s a sweet little project that you can stitch up before February 14!

I’ve been wanting to design a Valentine pattern for a while now. When you live in Minnesota, the shortest month on the calendar can seem like the longest. February is typically cold and snow packed. The joy of the Christmas and New Year’s holidays might overflow into January, but by the time February rolls around, I need a pick-me-up. This pretty runner, featuring fresh pink fabrics, will definitely put some spring in my step!

Very Gingham Valentine follows the same farmhouse style as my buffalo check patterns. I named this pattern differently because the check reads much smaller, with 1” finished squares.  But don’t worry, this project is still simple to construct! I include lots of tips, detailed illustrations, and a few progress photographs for clarity. I make every effort to produce a quality pattern that is one you will enjoy and will yield good results! On that note, I must thank my good friend Sylvia for pattern testing.  Sylvia is a precise, talented and prolific quilter.  With her background as a teacher, she is an excellent tester.  I appreciate her so much!

I’ve used the same Moda Bella solids to create the gingham effect as I previously used in my buffalo check patterns.  I will list those fabric names below with the material requirements. I found the two pink fabrics at my local quilt shop, Paisley Threads.  The floral is from the Bloom True collection by Terri Conrad for Poppie Cotton.  The lighter pink is Duchess Grunge by Basic Grey for Moda. I think this pattern would look lovely with some deeper pinks or reds also!

Very Gingham Valentine: Material Requirements

Dark Taupe (Moda Bella Solid 9900 128 Stone):  1/4 yard
Light Taupe (Moda Bella Solid 9900 178 Etchings Stone):  1/2 yard
White (Moda Bella Solid 9900 98 White Bleached):  1/4 yard
Pink A:  fat quarter
Pink B:  fat quarter
Backing:  1 1/2 yards

Very Gingham Valentine was machine quilted by Woods Edge Quilting. Shop owner Katy always comes through for me! She used a panto called Modern Twist Unraveled. It fills the space evenly but in a dainty fashion. I love it!

Very Gingham Valentine is available as a digital PDF on my Etsy Shop.  It finishes at 42 ½” x 12 ½”.  I’m looking forward to setting mine out next month, maybe with a bowl of conversation hearts . . . or pink tulips from the florist . . . anything that will sweeten up the month of February!

Thanks so much for stopping by!
