The Quilted Snowman} a finished top!

A heat wave hit Minnesota this week. We’re experiencing temps in the 40s. (Yes, 40 degrees Fahrenheit is a heat wave for us in February!) People in my home state will run errands without coats and mittens; you may even spy a jogger wearing shorts. The snow in our yard is beginning to recede, as patches of dormant grass appear. Spring is just around the corner, and I’ve completed my winter sewing project in the nick of time. My Quilted Snowman quilt top is finished!

If you’ve read my previous posts on this project, you will know how much fun and joy The Quilted Snowman has brought me. Although the quilt is very large and there were LOTS of pieces, it actually came together relatively quickly. I worked on it for three months, tackling blocks and sections one at a time. All of the piecing is straight forward, and the pattern by Lori Holt and It’s Sew Emma is top notch.

When my husband came into my sewing room to see the finished quilt top, he actually stopped in his tracks and said with a big grin on his face, “Wow! That is so cool!”  Brad is always supportive and complimentary of the things I make; he knows how much time, effort and love go into quilt making. But his genuine reaction to The Quilted Snowman mirrored what I feel inside when I look at it. This quilt just makes you happy!

I can’t wait to see The Quilted Snowman after it is machine quilted. Next winter I will have a big decision to make. Will this quilt go on a bed? Or will The Quilted Snowman hang on the wall in our front hallway, welcoming all who enter our home?  I know which way I am leaning, and I bet you do too.

Hope you all are well and sewing to your heart’s content. Thanks for stopping by!
