The Quilted Snowman is complete!

Hello quilting friends! Are you one of those folks who leans into Christmas decorating the morning after Halloween? Is your house already aglow with twinkle lights and festive greens? That seems to be the thing to do nowadays! As much as I love decorating for Christmas, I try to hang onto autumn as long as possible. My house is still filled with all things fall – from cozy seasonal quilts to crocheted pumpkins.

However, I had to make an exception because my Quilted Snowman quilt is complete! Friends, I am over the moon about this cheerful quilt! I finished the binding, added a hanging sleeve . . .  and then I couldn’t stop myself from putting it on display in the front hallway of my home. This in turn caused me to add a little flocked tree to my hallway table. So I guess my home is honoring two seasons simultaneously!

I began working on the Quilted Snowman project in November of last year. It was my “sew in season” project that I enjoyed over the winter months. I sewed from my stash and even created my own design wall so that I could watch the quilt grow.  That design wall was so helpful when auditioning fabrics!

This quilt is a doozey in terms of size. It finishes at a whopping 87” x 97” and is a challenge to photograph. I laid it on the floor to get some detail shots to share with you. But it seemed a little lonesome in the vignette, so I lugged out my small Christmas tree and plugged in the twinkle lights.  Then the sofa seemed a little blah, so I brought out my Frosty Forest quilt.

I hope you can see the darling machine quilting in these photos. My friend Katy of Woods Edge Quilting used a panto called Loopy Snowflakes. It has the perfect energy for this quilt, don’t you think? Seasonal whimsy!

If you want to know more about my quilt, I wrote five previous blog posts over the course of last winter. The posts include details on my design wall, fabric selections and the joy this project brought me!

The Quilted Snowman pattern was designed and published by Lori Holt & It’s Sew Emma. It is a wonderfully detailed pattern with full color illustrations. I recommend it highly! If you are interested in the pattern, it is available from Fat Quarter Shop: The Quilted Snowman pattern.

In my last blog post, I shared the happy news that we are expecting our first grandchild in January. My dream is to someday have a sweet row of grandkids lined up in front of this Quilted Snowman. I imagine he will spark wonder and giggles as he towers over them and Grandma tries to wrangle a picture. What a joy that would be!

I continue to be thankful for your support of my blog and my small pattern business! Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours!
