Crochet} a hat and blankie for baby

Hello quilting friends! In January, my husband and I were blessed with the arrival of our first grandchild ~ a precious, healthy and much-loved baby girl! As you can imagine, Grandpa and Grandma are over the moon. I know that many of you have experienced this already, but it is quite precious to watch a child that you raised and loved and prayed over become a parent to a child of his own. God is good!

Back in the autumn I shared photos of the quilt I made for baby girl. Today I want to share a couple of crocheted makes. First up is a sweet little hat, which unfortunately is too small for her. (I still have a lot to learn about sizing and gauge in crochet!) We’ve decided she can save it for her first dollie, and I’ll make another hat that fits her better.  I thoroughly enjoyed making this project. Even though the hat didn’t fit, it was not time wasted as I learned new techniques. I used a wonderful pattern called Star Stitch Baby Hat by MJ’s Off the Hook, which has an accompanying YouTube tutorial.  Making that dimensional rose was a bit of magic and so much fun!

I also crocheted a sweet white blanket using the Willow Baby Blanket pattern by Jewels & Jones. For these projects I used Lion Brand Basic Stitch in the colors blush heather, beige heather and white.

I’m respecting the new parents’ privacy and sharing just one picture of myself with a glimpse of my sweet granddaughter. You will see that her fur sibling, Harley, is taking her job as big sister seriously. That little dog is such a hoot!

Thanks so much for stopping by and sharing in my joy! I hope you all have a wonderful week!
