EPP} Hexie flower grows

I try to live my life by a “see the good, believe the best” mantra, which is grounded in my Christian faith. I devote time every day to being thankful for my ongoing blessings – health, family, friends, home, a good job and creative pursuits. And then there are daily, specific blessings that I remind myself to pause and notice and appreciate. And yet, there are so many scary and hurtful things happening all over the world. Closer to home, there are people and circumstances I care about and pray over. Tonight, I felt called to say that my head isn’t in the sand. The hurts of the world and other people are on my heart, and I care about you too! But I am committed to keeping my blog a peaceful and joyful space, where I can share my passion for quilting, where we can connect, and where hopefully I can be a light. Just as I’m called to be compassionate, merciful, forgiving and thankful, I’m also called to live a joyful life and live it abundantly. Maybe one of you needed that reminder, too.

So, with all of that said, I’m here to share a little project joy with you . . . my hexie EPP project is growing. I added a third round of hexies to my flower, using the darker stone color from the 3 Sisters mini charms which were my inspiration. (See my original post for all the EPP details).

Next, I added a fourth round of the whites, which were each so delicate and lovely. Sewing by hand has caused me to slow down and really take notice of the fabric. As I’m hand stitching, my eye appreciates the delicate flowers, leaves and vines gracing the fabric. Beauty is a blessing too, isn’t it?

Maybe you can’t see it in the previous picture, but I’ve washed and dried my pink “Next Up” quilt. It is my snuggly blanket in the evenings when I’m working on my hexie project. I normally don’t wash and dry my quilts right away, as I like to enjoy them in their “crisp” state for a while. But I’m so glad I squished this one early! Speaking of squishing things up, I’ve also washed and dried my pink Floating Squares quilt. This is a free pattern which you can read more about here. I keep this quilt in my sewing room, for the snuggling enjoyment of any visitors.

Finally, I want to share another spring project I have started. As you can see, I was busy cutting last weekend. It might not look like it here, but there are over 1,000 pieces on this pretty project tray! I’m making a pattern called “Rain or Shine” by Camille Roskelley of Thimble Blossoms, using Brenda Riddle’s new Abide collection. It is so uplifting to play with these lovely pastels.

I hope you have a wonderful spring, and I thank you for taking time to read my blog and make me a part of your day!

Wishing you peace and abundant joy!  Take care!
