Lovely Latte Mug Rug in red, white and blue

In January I released my Lovely Latte Mug Rugs pattern, which includes instructions for making two different mug rugs: one which features a heart and another which features a flower. Since I’ve been playing with so many red, white and blue fabric scraps lately, I decided to whip up a new flower mug rug. It turned out so cute, if I do say so myself!

It’s hard to say which side of the pattern I enjoyed making more. The flower, with its bold navy petals and lovely center fabric, is so striking on the white mug. I was tickled as the little block came together.

But I also felt a surge of creative joy while selecting and sewing the tiny squares into the happy patchwork. Honestly, the right side of the rug mug is so pretty in my eyes, that I wish I had a whole quilt just like it.  (Of course, I’d want to sew with bigger pieces for a whole quilt!)

Friends, if you are looking for a quick little project that puts a spring in your step, I hope you’ll give Lovely Latte Mug Rugs a try! It is available in PDF format on my Etsy shop. Here’s a picture of my original samples.

You may remember that last year I released my Holiday Latte Mug Rugs pattern. If you are already planning your autumn or Christmas sewing projects, you may want to consider that pattern as well. It includes instructions for both the evergreen tree and the pumpkin. I gave all four of these mug rugs as gifts. I guess I need to make a couple for myself!

Quilt making, no matter how big or small the project, is such a joy. I’m happy to share that joy with you.

Take care and carve out some time to get carried away quilting! It’s been a while since I reminded you to do that.
