Hello quilting friends! I’m popping in to show you a recent finish, even though it’s out of season. (Such is the life of a quilter, am I right?) In December I shared a quick quilt top I enjoyed putting together using a “Blizzard” panel by Sweetwater, some Christmas prints from my stash and one of my staples, Moda Indigo Chambray. That top has been quilted and bound . . . and is all ready for next winter!
When I last posted about this quilt, I was still auditioning fabrics for a small border: the chambray, a creamy white and a red with white pin dot. Also at the time, I thought that a black and red diagonal plaid would be my binding. But after much back and forth, that black and red diagonal plaid became my choice for border fabric. Since this is a fun little lap quilt, I kept the border small (2 ½” unfinished, 2” finished). I think it adds a nice frame to the quilt without overdoing it. I chose a festive red and white stripe from the Christmas Morning (Lella Boutique for Moda) collection for my binding.
Once again, the quilting magic was performed by Katy of Woods Edge Quilting. She used a panto called Modern Twist Unraveled. I love that panto for a quilt like this, which has a comfy/cozy vibe.
Just for fun, I took a photo of the finished quilt with one of my Simply Starry pillows. This will be a fun pairing at Christmastime, don’t you think? (Simply Starry is a free tutorial, with instructions for either a piano key border or a simple band border as shown in this photo.)
I apologize for the out of season blog post. Then again, it’s not really out of season. Today (March 13) it is only 25 degrees F in Minnesota. The wind is howling, and we even saw a few flurries this morning. I surely am longing for spring!
Take care all! Thank you for stopping by!
