Hello quilting friends! Since picking up a crochet hook a few months ago, I have learned MANY new things. One of my recent discoveries is that we quilters aren’t the only ones who have xxx-a-longs! (And I thought we were extremely special!) It turns out that crocheters have crochet-a-longs (CALs), and I’ve joined my first first one. I will be working alongside fans of MJ’s Off the Hook Designs, making just one of her three autumn projects: the Fall for Granny Blanket! I’m just getting started, but I’m loving it so far! Here’s my progress:
For yarn, I am continuing to use Lion Brand Re-spun Thick & Quick. The reason is two-fold. First, I had some left over from my granny square and pumpkin making. Second, I know this yarn and I like it. I’m just too new to crochet to be able to grab yarn off of the store shelves willy nilly. I have to stick with what I know for the time being! I’m using two colors that I’ve used in recent projects (Wisteria and Whipped Cream), and I added Sepia Rose, Hazelwood, and Espresso. Together, these colors have a “neutral autumn” feeling that I enjoy. My crochet hook of choice for this project is a Clover Amour Crochet Hook (M/N 9.0 mm).
MJ’s autumn CAL includes three projects: pumpkins, a blanket and nesting baskets. You’ll find everything you need . . . patterns, tutorials and lots of support via her website, YouTube Channel and Facebook page. I discovered MJ through YouTube searches, and I would highly recommend you check out her page if you are thinking about starting to crochet. She has numerous beginner friendly tutorials and a wide variety of fun projects.
Thanks for popping by!
