The Quilted Snowman} Body and wagon

Hello quilting friends! This past weekend my husband (along with most of the men in the family) went ice fishing in northern Minnesota. And as the saying goes, when the cat’s away the mice will . . . sew! While the fishermen were happily snagging walleyes, I spent much of my weekend at the sewing machine making progress on my Quilted Snowman project.

On Friday  and Saturday evenings, I made great progress on his patchwork body. I also completed all of the small Snowball Blocks. As you can see in these photos, I treated myself to a cute Lori Holt snowman needle minder.  Truth be told, I didn’t really need him, but he is a sweet mascot in my room.

On Saturday I took a break to meet a good friend for lunch and some “retail therapy” at a beautiful quilt shop in Hutchinson, MN.  Carolyn and I spent two happy hours shopping at Quilt Haven on Main! We only get to see each other a handful of times a year, but we always seem to pick up like we just saw each other yesterday. Don’t you love friendships like that?

On Sunday afternoon, I worked on the wagon block. Imagine that! A snowman riding along in a red wagon! This guy makes me chuckle whenever I look at him.  You’ll also notice that he’s growing to the point he’s not fitting on my design wall! The Quilted Snowman top will finish at 87.5″ x 97.5″.  He’s a doozey!

I’ll continue to pop in from time to time to share my progress with you. If you are looking for a sewing project that will cheer your heart, I strongly encourage the Quilted Snowman. I am thoroughly enjoying sewing from my stash and building this snowman, block by block. Below are some links that you may find helpful. Thanks for stopping by!
