Hello quilting friends! I hope you all are doing well! I’m having a “slowdown Saturday.” There is nothing on my calendar and my husband is busy golfing, so I’m putzing around the house, doing a little rearranging of the pretties. My blue Gumdrops quilt top has been quilted and bound, so I brought out my other summer quilts and admired them all together. I haven’t decided where each will end up, but I wanted to share a few pics with you. It makes me wonder how many of you are doing the same thing on this fine Saturday!
You can read all the details on my blue Gumdrops quilt on this post. You may recall that I pieced the top while on retreat with friends, so this quilt holds those happy memories. The darling quilting you see was done by Katy at Woods Edge Quilting. She used a panto called Ginger Flower. It complements the quilt so nicely.
My other summer quilts look quite happy next to Gumdrops. From front to back, these quilts are Gumdrops (pattern by me), Picnic (pattern by Cluck, Cluck Sew), Stars & Stripes (pattern by Camille Roskelley), and Wayne & Gordie (pattern by Carrie Nelson). Click on each of those links for detailed information on the patterns and fabrics I used. The oldest of these quilts, Wayne and Gordie, was made in 2019. As I look at them all together, I can see that I’ve really leaned into a color combination that I love.
I took one more picture so that you could see the scrumptious texture of the quilting. Wayne & Gordie has been washed several times, so it’s super cuddly. Picnic and Stars & Stripes were display quilts last year, so they are still flat and defined. It always takes me a while to wash a quilt for the first time.
I have one more bit of cheer to share. I added scallops to my Floribunda Rose Granny Square (tutorial and yarn by Lori Holt) and decided to display it. I found a wooden sign/box at Hobby Lobby, painted it white and distressed it a bit. Four tiny brads hold the granny square in place. It was a fun and easy project. I’m looking forward to changing it out for the seasons or holidays!
If you are interested in making Gumdrops, it is available in both paper and PDF format on my Etsy Shop. Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a great weekend!
