Chamomile quilt for Christmas

Hello quilting friends! December was such a flurry of activity that I didn’t get a chance to pop in and wish you a Merry Christmas. I hope you all had a wonderful holiday! We were blessed to have both of our children and their spouses here for Christmas Eve, and several from my husband’s side were here on Christmas Day. A few days later, we were hit with a major snowstorm. That gave me the perfect excuse to hunker down in the sewing room! I was even able to finish my latest “sew-in-season” project, a Chamomile quilt. Here is my finished top:

The Chamomile pattern, designed by Alli of Woodberry Way, is one I’ve admired for several years. It’s a simple but striking pattern and it sews together so quickly! Typically, the Chamomile quilt features low-volume fabrics, creating a gentle and soothing finished quilt. I opted to use some of my favorite red and green Christmas prints left over from recent projects, so my Chamomile quilt is a bit bolder. But I love how it came together!

While most of the fabrics were from my stash, I did purchase two new fat quarters from the Berry & Pine collection by Lella Boutique. For my sashing, I used a combination of a white pin dot from a previous Lella Boutique Christmas collection, along with Moda’s Indigo Chambray and Robert Kaufman’s Essex Yarn Dyed Linen in Chambray. You know me, I just love adding a bit of denimy blue to my quilts! I repeated Moda’s Indigo Chambray in the border as well.

I’m very excited about the backing fabric for this quilt: Santa’s Tree Farm by Lisa Audit for Riley Blake Designs. Lisa’s watercolor depictions of magical winter scenes draw me in just like a treasured children’s book. There is so much detail and emotion in her art; she definitely paints a heartwarming story!

It feels good to have completed this quilt top well in advance of the 2026 holiday season. (I’m sure my long-arm quilting pal will thank me too!) I’ve also been working on a crochet project for next Christmas, but I’ll save that for my next blog post. Let’s just say it’s red and green with a dash of PINK!

Happy New Year to you all! I hope 2026 rings in many blessings for you, including opportunities to get carried away quilting!
