An Easter tote bag

Are you looking for a quick and easy Easter gift for a child in your life?  Then I have just the project for you! The kind folks at Quilt Girls recently sent me one of their newest springtime collections, Garden Gatherings, and I whipped up this sweet little bag in no time.

You may recognize this tote bag; it’s one of my free tutorials called the Easy Fat Quarter Shoulder Bag! Wouldn’t this make a fun gift? You could fill it with a new book, some crayons or markers, a small stuffed animal or even Easter candies!

I used the Garden Gatherings Repeating Stripe for the bag exterior and strap, along with a green polka dot from my stash for the top band. And of course, I had to embellish the bag with some cotton-tail, pom-pom trim!

For the lining of the bag, I used Garden Gathering Bunnies on Green.  The Easy Fat Quarter Shoulder Bag makes a great little book bag for a child, or hip length tote for an older person. In this version, I made the strap half the length of what is indicated in the directions, as I knew the recipient would be a little girl.

In this photo you can see the beautiful Garden Gatherings Bunnies on Blue, which I will save for a future project. This vintage inspired collection feels so sweet and tender to me.

I hope you will hop on over to Quilt Girls and check out all of their beautiful juvenile prints, book panels and quilt panels. I just know you will find the right fabric for your special projects!

Thank you, Quilt Girls, for sending me this fabric.  It was indeed a fun afternoon of sewing!
