An Ombre Heart block with The Crafty Quilter

Sometimes you need to sew something quick and sweet, just because!  That’s what happened to me when I saw a fun and free heart block tutorial by Julie Cefalu of The Crafty Quilter: the Ombre Heart Tutorial!

I dug into my scrap bins and pulled these pretty pinks from Lella Boutique and the surrounding taupe floral from Corey Yoder, both for Moda. The fabric was flying and I was having quite the time, all to make this sweet little block!

What will I do with my Ombre Heart block? It may become a mug rug.  It may become a petite pillow. It would be wonderful to make a whole quilt of these blocks, wouldn’t it?

Thank you so much to Julie for sharing this fun tutorial with all of us. The Crafty Quilter has a design style I love and a generous quilting heart.  I hope you’ll zip on over to her blog and check it out!

  1. Yep, i checked out, as I've subscribed to her blog a few year now. She has some beautiful work! You do too -patterns (I have purchased) and projects. I don't subscribe to a lot of blogs but only the ones with the CUTE ideas! 🙂 Thanks for sharing…. 🙂

  2. This block is just precious! I believe it would make an amazing larger quilt with bunches of these blocks! Or even just this same idea but magnified to a larger size. Beautiful choice of fabrics!
