Another Lakeside Star quilt!

My second Lakeside Star quilt is finished and ready to be gifted to a lovely bride and groom-to-be, our beautiful niece and her handsome fiancé! I hope this quilt will add the warm reminder of family love and support to their home. We live several states apart and don’t get to see them often. It’s nice to think of them snuggled together under this cozy quilt, watching a movie or sharing their day’s experiences.

The Lakeside Star pattern is a good choice for a quilt intended for a young couple.  It’s bold and graphic, which fits in nicely with a young couple’s more contemporary styling, but it’s also traditional and inviting.

This crimson and taupe version of Lakeside Star has a very subtle nod to Christmas and winter, but the prints are not over-the-top seasonal. I’m hoping they use this as a cuddling quilt all year long!
Fabric selection for this quilt was a lot of fun.  I used collections from seven different Moda designers, and I was thrilled with how well they worked together.  The collections shown include
Return to Winter’s Lane by Kate & Birdie
Sweet Tea by Sweetwater
Merrily by Gingiber
Prairie Grass by Holly Taylor
Farmer’s Daughter by Lella Boutique
Sundrops by Corey Yoder
Victoria by 3 Sisters

My friend and local quilt shop owner, Barb from Quilts on Broadway, did the lovely machine quilting using a large swirling pattern and soft taupe thread.  We also chose a plush cappuccino colored backing fabric from her store. The brand is Cuddle® fabric by Shannon Fabrics.

Lakeside Star is a fat quarter quilt pattern available on my Etsy Shop. This quilt finishes at 74” x 74” and is beginner friendly. My pattern includes pressing and layout tips. Just collect some pretty fat quarters and begin!

I’ve carefully folded Tahler and Ricky’s quilt. Now I’m on the hunt for a large box and the roll of wrapping paper that I know I purchased . . . but which seems to have gone missing. Wish me luck!
