Last night I was feeling blue. I was missing my quilting buddies and reminiscing about the fun we have when we sew together . . . giggling, talking, snacking, creating. For a moment, I considered throwing myself on the couch and binge watching Netflix. But instead, I picked up my chin and sought refuge in the sewing room. I’m so glad I did, because by the end of the evening I had cheered myself considerably by making this happy block!
Do you remember my Flower Tile pattern? I released it in 2018 and it has always been a personal favorite of mine. My original Flower Tile quilt featured the soft and romantic Strawberry Fields Revisited collection by Fig Tree & Company. This is a charm pack friendly pattern that finishes at 40 1/2” square, making it a great size for a table topper, wall hanging or baby quilt.
I’ve wanted to sew up this quilt in a completely different look for quite some time, and since Moda’s Indigo Chambray (#12051 13) is my new favorite fabric, I decided to use that as the neutral in this quilt. Don’t you just love how the red, green and yellow fabrics pop off of the chambray?
The red and green prints are from Fig Tree’s original Christmas Figs collection, but they are releasing a similar line, Christmas Figs II, this month! This block has a decidedly summertime vibe, so I find it quite fun that three prints from a Christmas collection play a starring role. The warm butter yellow print is from Corey Yoder’s Pepper & Flax collection.
I’ll keep making more Flower Tile blocks whenever the mood strikes me, whenever I need a sunny pick-me-up. I hope all of you are finding happy times in your sewing rooms as well!
In honor of Mother’s Day, all of my patterns in my Etsy Shop are 20% off through Monday, May 11. No coupon code is needed. Thanks for stopping by!
