In May I shared photos of quilt blocks I made using my free pattern, Floating Squares. (Please refer to that blog post for all the details.) I now have those blocks stitched together into a 36” square top which I hope to have quilted in time for autumn. It will be the perfect fall table topper . . . especially when paired with my newest crocheted granny square!
After I finished this quilt top, I was so inspired by the colors that I dug into my bin of Scheepjes Stone Washed mini skeins and made a coordinating granny square. (See this post for my Scheepjes mini skein story.) I was tickled (picture a happy dance) with the finished piece, and once again my husband commented on how nice it was to see me lit up about something. Occasionally, quilting can feel like work. But with crochet, I just grab my basket and begin yarning over. Not much of a plan. Just fun.
On Instagram I came across some ladies who made yarn pegs to inventory their color choices for projects. I thought this was a great idea, so I made some of my own. It’s a nice way to visually document yarn colors. (I wrote the color numbers on the back side of the clothespin.)
While I would never wish away my summer days, I do look forward to decorating with my autumn Floating Squares quilt. I already feel excited about tossing the quilt on our dining room table, and then adding some autumn touches . . . pumpkins, dried flowers, maybe a basket or tray, and of course, the autumn granny square!
Thanks for stopping by today! I wish you all happy, contended days and a joyful anticipation for the days ahead.
