Hello quilting friends! I’m popping in today to share photos of my finished Pumpkin Run pillow. If you read my August 3 blog post, you’ll recall that I’ve used my Pumpkin Run table runner pattern to make a quick and easy autumn pillow. I’m really pleased with how she turned out. I love these warm and cozy colors!
I did some simple straight-line quilting on this project because (truth be told) that’s the only quilting skill I have. But I think the finished effect is pleasing enough.
For binding, I used Essex Yarn Dyed Linen in Oyster (Robert Kaufman Fabrics). The rest of my fabrics, which are also listed in my August 3 blog post, are as follows:
- Pumpkin: Seedling Seeds in plum (Katarina Roccella for Art Gallery Fabrics)
- Star: Fanciful Flights in gilded (Sharon Holland for Art Gallery Fabrics)
- Larger purple points: Sprout Woven in mulberry (Fableism)
- Smaller lilac squares: Cultivated (Bonnie Christine for Art Gallery Fabrics)
- White Background: Dotted Veil Ballerina (Art Gallery Fabrics)
- Border: Essex Yarn Dyed Linen in mocha (Robert Kaufman Fabrics)
I’m not ready to decorate for fall yet, but I did enjoy placing these pretty items in my guest room for a photo shoot. Naturally, I had to include my recently made Crocheted Pumpkins as they are so darn cute.
I learned to make these pumpkins by watching a YouTube video by Erica Arndt. (I shared more about that in this blog post: Crocheted Pumpkins.) I used Lion Brand Re-spun Thick & Quick yarn in the colors Wisteria, Whipped Cream and Squash, as well as a Clover Amour Crochet Hook (M/N 9.0 mm)
As I was snapping pictures, my mind became distracted as I considered all of the spots in my home where I might display my new pumpkins and pillow. The living room? The entry way? My office? I can already envision the flurry of activity on the day I bring out the autumn decor and quilts. My husband will probably run for the hills!

In my final photo below, you’ll see a pretty neutrals quilt that I’ve been using as a backdrop in my recent photos. After making a neutral wedding quilt for my daughter and then for my daughter-in-law, I needed to make one for myself. I love how calming it is and how it adds visual texture to anything else I pair it with. It’s just so good! The pattern is called “Swatch” and it was designed by the shop owners at one of my local quilt shops, Sweetwater Cotton Shoppe. Swatch is fat quarter friendly and finishes at 88 x 104″! I didn’t need mine to be quite that big, so I omitted the outer border. I used neutral fat quarters that I purchased at Sweetwater Cotton Shoppe. The beautiful quilting was done by Katy at Woods Edge Quilting. Katy used a panto called Lace Leaf, which she also used on my daughter’s quilt. I love that both Haley and my neutrals quilts share the same panto.

What size is pillow form? Can you write how big to make the border? I’d like to make that pillow.

For this autumn pillow project, I made only one block and finished it off with a border that is 3 ½” wide. The completed block is 16 ½” square. After I quilt the top, I’ll make a simple envelope-style backing, bind the project, and insert a 16” pillow square.
