Jolly Bar Book giveaway with Fat Quarter Shop

Back in February I shared a bit of “secret sewing” with you, as I was working on a quilt for Fat Quarter Shop. Today is the big reveal ~ my Lollygag quilt is finished! This pretty pattern is one of 20 you will find in the brand-new Jolly Bar Vol. 5 Book published by It’s Sew Emma and Fat Quarter Shop. I was honored to be one of the makers on the quilt tour announcing their new book.

The Jolly Bar Vol. 5 Book is so well done, in true Fat Quarter Shop fashion! The pattern instructions are easy to follow, with a combination of clearly written instructions and full color illustrations. I really appreciate that the book is spiral bound, so it lays nice and flat while I’m working. My quilt came together quickly and efficiently. While the pattern is beginner friendly, the end result is still impressive and sophisticated. I love this Lollygag quilt!

In case this term “Jolly Bar” is new to you, a Jolly bar is a precut that is exclusive to Fat Quarter Shop. It is similar to a layer cake, in that it includes 42 pieces from a particular fabric collection, but a Jolly Bar is half the size of a layer cake. Each Jolly Bar measures 5” x 10”. Fat Quarter Shop carries a beautiful selection of Jolly Bar precuts for every season and style! I chose the soft and feminine Honeybloom (3 Sisters) Jolly Bar for my Lollygag quilt.

Here’s a closeup picture of the lovely machine quilting done by my friend Katy at Woods Edge Quilting. The panto she used is called Mums. Doesn’t it complement the fabric well? I think the soft round petals in the motif fill the white space so nicely.

I would LOVE for you to own a copy of the Jolly Bar Vol. 5 Book! Thanks to the generous folks at Fat Quarter Shop, I’m running a giveaway on my blog. The winner will receive a hard copy of this new book as well as a $25 gift card to FQS! To enter, simply leave a comment telling me why you would like to win. Be sure to include your email address.  Comments are open through 5:00 pm (CST) on Wednesday, April 23, 2025. After the deadline, I will do a random drawing and announce a winner. *Only one comment per person/per email address.

Be sure you are following Fat Quarter Shop on Instagram, Facebook and YouTube.  Over the next few weeks, they’ll be sharing posts and pictures from all of the makers on the Quilt Tour.  I’ve seen the names of other quilt makers on this tour, and we are in for a treat! I can’t wait to see all of their finished Jolly Bar quilts!

My Lollygag quilt is currently far from home. She’s being cared for at the FQS headquarters in Texas for the time being; their team is preparing for a virtual trunk show so that you can see all of the maker’s quilts. That will be so fun! I know that two Minnesota gals, Katy and I, will be watching from way up north.  We’re just tickled that Lollygag will be part of the lineup. Be sure to save this date on your calendar: May 10, 2025 is officially Jolly Bar Day! That is the day that Kimberly Jolly will host the livestream trunk show! (I hear there may be additional giveaways happening on Jolly Bar Day!)

Many thanks to Fat Quarter Shop for including me in the Jolly Bar Vol. 5 Quilt Tour. Your team is a positive inspiration in the quilting world, and we are all blessed for it. Congratulations on another terrific It’s Sew Emma publication!

Good luck to all of you who enter the giveaway. As always, thanks for stopping by!
