Hello quilting friends! We have been blessed with some glorious weather this September. The leaves on the trees are beginning to turn, autumn flowers are in their glory, and the temperatures have been balmy. Like so many of you, fall is probably my favorite season, and autumn quilts are among my favorites as well. Today I wanted to share my most recent autumn quilt top finish. The pattern is called Good Morning by Camille Roskelley.
I guess this technically isn’t an autumn quilt, as it doesn’t feature maple leaves or pumpkins, but the color choices are my go-to autumn hues. The Good Morning pattern features oversized granny squares and calls for 18 fat quarters and some additional yardage. It comes together quickly and is very fun to make!
I strayed from the pattern just a bit. I did start with 18 fat quarters, but once I began laying out my blocks, I replaced some squares for others in my stash because I wanted the colors to land in certain spots. I also made my sashing strips an inch narrower than the pattern called for.
The fabrics in my Good Morning quilt top are a smattering of prints from Art Gallery Fabrics, Moda Fabrics and Fableism. With a granny square block, it’s easy to move things around until you get combinations that you love.
Speaking of granny squares, I also finished my granny square crocheted pillow. You may recall that I was inspired to stitch up some autumn granny squares after completing my Meadowland quilt. At the time, I was undecided on whether to make a scarf or a pillow.
In the end, the pillow option won out. I joined all the small squares I crocheted in August to create one side of the pillow.
With my remaining yarn, I made the back side of the pillow, which is just one large granny square. I love how both sides of the pillow look with my Journeys quilt.
To create the pillow, I joined the two panels together with a single crochet stitch around all four sides. (Join three sides, insert a pillow form, and continue crocheting the fourth side until it is closed. It’s really as simple as that!) I used Lion Brand Basic Stitch in the colors denim heather, stonewash, honey, blush heather, hazelnut, deco rose, taupe heather, and beige heather. My hook of choice was a Clover Amour H 5.0 mm.
I have been working behind the scenes on a design for a new Christmas pillow, but the lovely weather has been calling me outdoors quite often. I probably need a rainy weekend so that I can focus and stay huddled in my sewing room! I can’t wait to show you my new pillow pattern!
Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a wonderful day!

Hello sweet girl! Everything that you do is just F-A-B-U-L-O-U-S! I love it all! I’ve purchased a few patterns from you in the past but have yet to make them, I’d better get busy. Blessings! Jen
Oh please do get busy! 😉 I’d love to see your makes. Thanks for your kind words!
Your garden is really beautiful. What are the yellow and black flowers?
Thanks! They are a variety of Rudebeckia. Hirta I believe.
Beautiful! As usual, I love your choice of colors. Very warm and cozy. Makes me want pumpkin scones and a cup of tea. And your garden is lovely. Gorgeous autumn tones all around you!
Thank you so much Kam! I appreciate your kind words. Warm and Cozy is always good!
So, so pretty! The quilt and crocheted pillows are gorgeous! I appreciate the lack of pumpkins and leaves. The two colored quilt on the wall is gorgeous as well. What pattern is that?
Thanks Leslie! The one on the wall is Celtic Crossing by Lo & Behold Stitchery. I wrote a blog post about it if you want more info: https://carriedawayquilting.com/2025/01/celtic-crossing-wall-hanging/
Wow! I love everything you’ve done in this post. What is the quilt at the far end of the sofa near the orange wreath? Have you done a blog post about that one?
Thanks Virginia! That one is Autumn Harvest. The pattern is by Brittany Tunisan. I did write a blog post about it. Here you go: https://carriedawayquilting.com/2023/12/finished-project-autumn-harvest-quilt/
Everything is so beautiful !
Thank you Tempus!
