Fabric Giveaway Winner with Fat Quarter Shop

Sincere thank you to everyone who stopped by the blog and commented on my Castle Pillow project for the Fat Quarter Shop.  We do have a winner tonight!  One lucky lady will be receiving that beautiful half yard bundle of “Bloom and Bliss” (Nadra Ridgeway of Ellis & Higgs for Riley Blake Designs) donated by the Fat Quarter Shop.

But first, I hope you\’ll indulge me and let me tell you where my Castle Pillow is going . . .

Bags 4 Bob

Bags 4 Bob is a charity bean bag tournament held in Foley, Minnesota in early September. It is held in memory of Robert Miller. Robert passed away at the age of 26 from complications from his muscular dystrophy and heart transplant.

Robert Miller

Every year 50 to 60 teams of all abilities come together and play for \”bragging rights\” along with a small prize for the top four teams. The tournament holds a silent auction in conjunction with the tournament. Various people and businesses donate items to be on the silent auction.  I\’m so happy this Castle Pillow will be one of the items on the silent auction items.  I hope it brings happiness to the winning bidder and a helpful contribution as well.

The combination of team registrations and silent auction proceeds are donated. Bags 4 Bob has been able to donate close to $5,000 each year. In the past couple of years, Bags 4 Bob has donated the proceeds to the Ronald McDonald House in memory of Robert.

Robert and his family spent several months at the Ronald McDonald house prior to and after his heart transplant when he was 14 years old. The Ronald McDonald House provides a \”home away from home\” for sick children and their families to stay with little to no cost to the families. The family encourages you to consider the Ronald McDonald House when considering your charitable giving options.

This year Bags 4 Bob will be hosting their 5th annual bean bag tournament in September. The Millers are a great family who are active in our community.  They are always making a difference in the lives of others.  Thank you for all you do, Miller family!

Fabric Giveaway

Now back to our drawing.  I took all of those comments, copied and pasted the entries into an Excel spreadsheet (I love computers), removed the nice comments from my mom and my sister (sorry, no relatives allowed), did several random sorts to get the entries good and mixed up, and then asked my daughter to pick a number between 1 and 61.  She said, “23!”

Lucky # 23 is Ann Witten. The kind folks at the Fat Quarter Shop will send this darling bundle to you, Ann.  Thank you so much Fat Quarter Shop!

Thank you all for joining in!  I hope you get carried away quilting often!

  1. What a kind soul you are, to share your time and talent and that pretty pillow for a very worthy cause. I hope the event is a huge success this year as well.Congratulations to you, Ann, for winning such a nice prize!

  2. Your castle pillow is so special and I love what you are doing, Taunja! Congratulations to Ann for winning this beautiful bundle – and to the Fat Quarter Shop for always having such a giving heart with so many charities.

  3. This is a such a sad, yet beautiful story! The Ronald McDonald House is a wonderful organization to raise money for. I love reading stories of how a tragedy has been turned into a wonderful cause for charitable giving! I always tell my kids to focus on the good that comes out of something not so good! I truly believe that the Lord uses tragedies to bring good out of it, and to bring glory to Himself. We just have to look for it and recognize it! Bless your heart for donating that sweet pillow. If I were at that auction, you know I'd be the highest bidder and snatch it right up!! 😉
