I\’m so excited to share my latest pattern with you, \”Ribbon Play.\” This was a design idea that kept me awake at night, because I somehow became obsessed with the idea of a pretty, twinkly ribbon that appeared to be moving or twisting. As the idea slowly took shape in my mind, I knew that Bonnie & Camille\’s \”Little Ruby\” line for Moda would be just the fabric to bring \”Ribbon Play\” to life.
\”Ribbon Play\” is a generously sized runner at 50 1/2\” by 18 1/2\”. I like to have a nice long runner for my kitchen table. The ribbon element is constructed by using a sort of \”double half square triangle\” technique, ensuring that the building blocks for your ribbon stay true and square.
I think you will also enjoy the fabric requirements: just 6 fat quarters and 3/4 yard of background fabric are all you need to make the top and scrappy binding!
When looking for your ribbon fabric, you just need to select two fat quarters that are the same color tone, with one being a few shades darker or deeper than the other.
My \”Ribbon Play\” pattern is available on my Etsy Shop.
But here’s the really good news . . . “Ribbon Play” is also available as a kit through Lou Lou’s Fabric Shop and there are TWO color options: red/gray with green, or red/pink/aqua with green!
The kit includes all the fabric for the top and binding as well as my PDF pattern! Cost is just $29.99. Please visit Lou Lou\’s Fabric Shop for all the details!
Thanks for stopping by the blog today! I hope you will give “Ribbon Play” a try. I guarantee it will happily grace your dining table! Thank you to Barb Erickson at Quilts on Broadway for the lovely quilting! And I hope you all get carried away quilting often!

Oh Taunja these are so pretty! You have such a true talent for delightful patterns! I think this time I will look at the kit as the price is so good. I love the ribbon idea and the longer length. And I adore pink with red and green and aqua. So you can guess which one I will get. I have some Little Ruby but no time plus no decision has left the fabric sitting there. It is nice to try the fabric out in this way! Could you tell me the name of the pattern your used on the quilting? I am having a pattern called Posies Please done on your Picking Petals pattern. It is a flower perfect for your pattern! Happy sewing and thank you again. Karen in NC
Karen thank you so much for your kind words! I really appreciate it! I have emailed my LAQ to find out the name of that quilting pattern, and as soon as I hear back I will let you know. Your note has brought so much sunshine into my day!
Hi again Karen. This is what my LAQ said: Pattern by Vickie Malaski, simply called Dragonflies – one of the designs that came with the Gammill.
