Thank you for stopping by to check out my newest pattern, Window Garden. This is a layer cake friendly pattern, measuring at 64 1/2” x 76 1/2”. My quilt features the beautiful new collection by Lella Boutique (Moda Fabrics) called Olive’s Flower Market. This collection ships to stores in November!
When I received my layer cake of Olive’s Flower Market from the nice folks at Moda, I was struck by how delicate and romantic the prints are, but the inclusion of the charcoal black and the grounding taupe also made the collection feel sophisticated and modern. This mainly four-color palette is just so lovely!
And so, Olive’s Flower Market was my inspiration for this layer cake pattern. My goal was to design a pattern that would maintain large portions of each 10″ square to really show off the fabrics, but also include some smaller details that give the design movement and energy. As I was working on the quilt this summer, my daughter looked at the blocks and said, “They are so pretty, Mom! Each one is like a little window.” Thank you Haley, for helping me give a name to Window Garden!
I think this pattern would translate well to so many beautiful layer cake collections on the market. I’m also thinking it would make a beautiful Christmas quilt with just the right holiday fabric!
Since my daughter was instrumental in helping me name my new pattern, it has found a home in her bedroom, where she already has taupe colored walls, modern black curtains and white furniture. I guess it was meant to be!
Window Garden is available on my Etsy Shop. Special thank you to my friend Barb Erickson at Quilts on Broadway for the lovely quilting! I hope you all get carried away quilting often!

Eeeek . . . I'm sorry that I never saw this comment Sylvia. You are a dear! 😉
I just ordered this one…now to decide the fabric choice!
Oh thank you Sherri! I hope you enjoy it! 🙂
Hello Taunja,I found this layer cake at my local quilt store and then I found your pattern. I love it! Will you tell me what fabric you used for backing? It's such a beautiful quilt. Thank you.Joyce
Hi Joyce! I'm so glad you like it! For backing I had to use a white solid, although I wish I could have used one of the petite prints from the collection! This was a pattern I developed before Olive's Flower Market was fully released by Moda, so I was only able to get ahold of enough pre-release fabric for the top and binding.
