I\’m so excited to be a guest blogger again this year on Fat Quarter Shop\’s 2017 Patchwork Quilt Along! Last year was great fun, when each month we made beautiful blocks for the Crossroads Quilt designed by Joanna of Fig Tree & Company. This year promises to be another fabulous project, with lovely patchwork blocks designed by Bonnie & Camille using their newest collection: Basics.
This annual event hosted by Fat Quarter Shop is a charity quilt along. The patterns are free and are posted on the 15th of each month on the Jolly Jabber. Quilters are asked to donate $5 for each block pattern that they download. All proceeds will go to the Make-A-Wish Foundation! What a great opportunity for us all!
The January block is called Souvenir of Friendship. This is a fun and easy block which you can stitch together in no time! Here are mine:
I use my Alphabitties (from Fat Quarter Shop) to keep my pieces organized.
There are only four seams to match and the construction is simple. The pieces are small though, so make sure you are using your quarter-inch foot or watching your seam allowance carefully! The pattern calls for us to make (6) 5 1/2\” blocks.
It\’s not too late for you to join in the fun. Here’s an informational link which provides all the details:
And here’s a link to the kit if you want to make one in Basics by Bonnie & Camille!
I hope you’ll consider joining this quilt along! It is a great way to connect with other enthusiastic quilters and donate to a wonderful cause. You can also share your progress and creations on the 2017 Patchwork Quilt Along Facebook group! And be sure to post your own blocks using #patchworkquiltalong on Instagram!
Several other bloggers are joining. I hope you\’ll follow their progress on their blogs and Instagram accounts. I\’m excited to see all of the variations of this quilt in different fabric collections!
Thanks for stopping by! I hope you get carried away quilting often!
