Gumdrops layer cake quilt featuring Flower Mill

Hello quilting friends!  I have another sweet Gumdrops quilt to share with you today. The maker is Vickie Zaleski, a talented and kind sewing friend I “met” through the wonders of the Instagram quilting community. Vickie and I share an affinity for the same fabric collections and pattern styles. I was tickled when she agreed to sew and test my newest layer cake pattern, Gumdrops.  Here is Vickie’s beautiful make:

Vickie used the delightful Flower Mill collection by Moda designer Corey Yoder for her Gumdrops quilt. The end result is a cheerful quilt that appears to be cherished by Vickie\’s darling daughter! Isn’t it wonderful to see a quilt being squished up and loved?

Vickie’s stitching talents aren’t limited to quilts; she also makes lovely bags, pincushions, pillows and more. In fact, Vickie surprised me with this wonderful gift . . .  a beautiful double zipped pouch featuring a lovely Flower Mill Dresden plate. I was so touched by this generous gift. (I\’m glad no one was around when I opened it, as I had an emotional \”sap alert\” moment!)  It is on display in my sewing room. When I look at it, it reminds me of all of the good and generous quilters I know, including Vickie!

My Gumdrops pattern calls for one layer cake with coordinating fabric, and it includes instructions for an easy pieced backing made from 16 of the layer cake squares! Here\’s the back of Vickie\’s quilt:

Gumdropsmeasures at 64 1/2” square, making it a perfect lap quilt, sofa throw, or picnic quilt. For my original Gumdrops quilt, I used the Fleurs collection by Brenda Riddle for Moda, pictured here:
If you are interested in purchasing Gumdrops, please visit your local quilt shop or one of my blog sponsors who are carrying the pattern. You can also purchase paper or electronic patterns on my Etsy ShopQuilt shop owners: wholesale information is available here.

I hope you will give Vickie a follow on social media.  She sews inspiring projects and is a thoughtful cheerleader for other makers!  Zip on over to her blog, Crocheting Vixen, to learn more. You\’ll be glad you did!

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  I hope you get carried away quilting real soon!
