Lakeside Star: a crimson version

In February I introduced you to my new fat quarter pattern, Lakeside Star. This bold, dynamic quilt makes a statement with thoughtful color and print placement. My original quilt showcased a blue, butterscotch and taupe color combination. I recently completed another Lakeside Star top featuring crimson, brown and taupe prints. I’m doing my final pressing and then she’ll be off to the quilter!
This crimson version of Lakeside Star could be considered a winter or Christmas quilt, as some of the prints have a subtle seasonal motif.  But I think the overall effect is such that the quilt can be used year-round.
I had a terrific time pulling fat quarters for this project.  I used collections from seven different Moda designers and was thrilled to see how nicely they played together:
Return to Winter’s Lane by Kate & Birdie
Sweet Tea by Sweetwater
Merrily by Gingiber
Prairie Grass by Holly Taylor
Farmer’s Daughter by Lella Boutique
Sundrops by Corey Yoder
Victoria by 3 Sisters

Lakeside Star is available as a digital PDF on my Etsy Shop. This quilt finishes at 74” x 74” and is beginner friendly. My pattern includes pressing and layout tips. Just collect some pretty fat quarters and begin!
My intention is to give this crimson Lakeside Star quilt as a gift, but she’s awfully pretty.  When she returns back home from the quilter, she\’ll be even more lovely. Hopefully I won’t accidentally keep her for myself!

  1. Love it and the colors. I understand how quilts look so much different after being quilted. Maybe you can make another for yourself later on. Missed seeing posts for awhile I'm sure you have been busy creating. Hope all is well… Happy spring and looking forward to your new ideas and decorating….thanks 🙂
