New patterns: Juniper & Jolly

I hope you’ve been saving those scraps from your favorite Christmas fabrics, because I have two new patterns that are perfect for raiding your holiday fabric bins: Juniper and Jolly!

Juniper and Jolly are mini quilt patterns that finish at 18 1/2” inches square. You could display them as wall hangings or turn them into pillows, which is what I did! (Each pattern includes instructions for making a simple envelope back pillow enclosure.)

Both Juniper and Jolly are quick and easy weekend projects. Imagine your favorite Christmas movie playing in the background, a cinnamon spice candle filling your home with a lovely aroma, and you at your sewing machine . . . stitching up Juniper and Jolly for someone you love!

I will admit that I played the “Christmas Vacation” movie in the background while I cut and sewed Juniper and Jolly one Saturday last month.  My husband came in the house and was quite perplexed.  “Christmas movies already?” he asked. I explained that ambiance is important when sewing for the holidays! He may have rolled his eyes.

Juniper and Jolly both have such minimal fabric requirements, you can probably raid your stash for everything you need.  I used mostly saved scraps from Sweetwater’s past Christmas collections for the tops and the beautiful green floral from Lella Boutique’s Christmas Morning for my pillow backs.

I could have quilted both pillow tops myself with some simple straight line quilting, but I knew I’d be happier with the end result if I sent them off to Katy at Woods Edge Quilting.  We chose a panto called Modern Twist Unraveled. This light, whimsical quilting adds a cheerful finishing touch.

Juniper and Jolly are available as digital PDF patterns on my Etsy Shop.  I’ve listed the fabric requirements below. Turn on some holiday music and begin digging through your seasonal stash! I hope you have everything you need to make your own versions of Juniper and Jolly!

  1. I love your quilts and patterns! I just finished a flannel like the one you did for your son. Can you tell me the name of the quilting pattern you used? Thanks!
