New pattern: Starry Stockings

Hello quilting friends!  I’m excited to share my newest pattern with you today: Starry Stockings! I have wanted to design a quilt featuring Christmas stockings for quite some time, but I had to let my ideas percolate for several months. I initially envisioned a large quilt comprised of many stockings, and I did several sketches. This evolved into something smaller and sweeter: five festive stockings lined up in a row, and set off by twinkling stars.

Starry Stockings finishes at 56 ½” x 17 ½”, which makes it quite versatile.  For my pattern photo shoot, I displayed it on our dining room table.  But I also think it would make a lovely bed runner.  I’ve even noticed a few empty, horizontal wall spots in my home where it could hang during the holidays.  We’ll see where the Christmas decorating spirit takes me come November!

Starry Stockings features the gorgeous new “Christmas Eve” collection from Lella Boutique for Moda. This collection is scheduled to ship to quilt shops in May. It is every bit as pretty as her earlier collection, “Christmas Morning.” In this photo, you can see my Journeys quilt in the background. Journeys was made using Christmas Morning!

My friend Katy at Woods Edge Quilting did the machine quilting on Starry Stockings. I am absolutely tickled with the finished result. While this is an “all-over” quilting motif, the stockings seem to take on their own dimension!  The panto Katy used is called Loop to Loop.

The Starry Stockings pattern is available in PDF format on my Etsy shop. It’s a really fun project.  I hope you’ll give it a whirl!

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

  1. Love Love this soooo much, just purchased this and the Journey Quilt that I have been eyeing for months…..can’t wait to have time to make them.

  2. Beautiful!! Love the size and shape of these sweet stockings. So pretty with the star blocks. The quilting really shines on this too.
