Banded Stars: Christmas Blocks

Earlier this month I shared my new Banded Stars pattern with you. The response to Banded Stars on social media has been terrific. It makes me happy that so many of you were drawn to that classic, two-color pattern. As I was stitching up the original Banded Stars, I wondered what it might look like in festive Christmas fabrics. This weekend I whipped up a couple of blocks featuring a red print from Lella Boutique’s new Christmas Eve collection and a green print I had saved from her older Christmas Morning collection.

For this holiday version, I am creating the soft banding effect using white and gray from the Christmas Eve collection.  To be precise, I am using Merry Dot in Snow (5187-11) and Merry Dot in Silver (5187-12).

I love how these blocks turned out . . . and so does my mom.  In fact, she has laid claim to the finished Christmas version of Banded Stars. I may not get it finished in time for this year’s holiday (a few too many irons in the fire), but thankfully Mom is a patient lady when it comes to getting a new quilt from her daughter!

Banded Stars finishes at 74” square and is available as a PDF pattern on my Etsy Shop. ,

Have a great week, quilting friends! I hope you find time to get carried away quilting!

  1. With the stocking runner there is a quilt on the back of the chair. What is the name of that pattern?
