New pattern: Noel pillow

Autumn is upon us, which means that the holiday season is not too far away.  I guess that’s my signal to release a new Christmas pillow pattern. You know I can’t help myself!  I love a project that can be completed in a weekend and allows me to play with my favorite saved scraps. So today I’m introducing Noel!

Quilting friends, I think you will love this project! I’m not sure which part was more fun . . . rummaging around in my Christmas fabrics and selecting just the right little pieces, or watching the design emerge and feeling the first flutters of holiday spirit enter my heart. All I know is, I sure can get lost in the joy of these small weekend projects!

Because people always want to know, I’ll share my fabric selections with you as best I can. There is one print I’m uncertain of, and that is the tiny text print that is one of the holly berries.  I’m not sure what collection that is from. Sorry!  Here are the rest of them:

  • The red letters are from Christmas Eve by Lella Boutique.
  • The green in the tree and one side of the holly is from Wintertide by Janet Clare.
  • The greens in the checkerboard and the other side of the holly are from Red Barn Christmas by Sweetwater.
  • The red in the other holly berry is from Red Barn Christmas by Sweetwater.
  • The tree trunk is from Late October by Sweetwater.
  • The white background is from Christmas Eve by Lella Boutique.
  • The top and bottom borders are from Christmas Eve by Lella Boutique.
  • The binding is the Country Red Essential Dots from Moda.

Many thanks to Katy at Woods Edge Quilting for the perfect finishing touch on the Noel pillow. We chose a panto called Knitterly 1, which adds an awesome texture without overpowering the piecing.

Noel is available as a digital PDF on my Etsy Shop.  It finishes at 18 ½” square and includes instructions for making a simple envelope back pillow enclosure.

I’ve listed the fabric requirements below. You just might have everything you need in your stash to begin sewing your own Noel mini quilt today! Grab my pattern on Etsy, turn on the holiday music and get carried away quilting!

  1. Is this ever sweet, Taunja! Love how this would dress up any bed or sofa for Christmas – or even use as a table topper. Love it!

  2. I want to know about the quilt on the bed under the beautiful
pillow. Is that one of your patterns?
