Bloom-Topia: Release 7

Hello quilting friends! I\’m cruising right along with my Bloom-Topia blocks. Today I\’m sharing my Release 7 blocks for this fun charity quilt along with Fat Quarter Shop.

Our assignment was to make two long Geese blocks, each measuring 6 1/2\” x 18 1/2\”.  One of the Geese blocks was then used as the middle portion of the larger block, the Geese and Gander block, which finished at 18 1/2\” x 30 1/2\”.

I introduced a bit of Sweet Tea fabric (by Sweetwater) into these blocks.  The navy with white pin dot is from the Sweet Tea collection, and two of the Geese wings are also from Sweet Tea: the navy with white text and the navy with white X’s.

The rest of the prints you see are from the Harvest Road collection by Lella Boutique for Moda. I love the warm, earthy feeling of the Harvest Road collection.

The original Bloom-Topia quilt designed by Fat Quarter Shop features the Summer Sweet fabric collection by Sherri & Chelsi for Moda.  If you would like to make one just like the original, there is still time to purchase a Bloom-Topia kit!

Thanks for stopping by!

  1. I LOVE the colors you're using. Do you know about how much of the different prints one would need to purchase if they were of a mind to copycat yours? HA Thanks!!

  2. Thanks Sherrill! Well, it would be hard for me to say. I started with a yard of each fabric from Harvest Road, but I used some of that for other projects, and pulled other fabrics in that go with Harvest Road. So sorry about that . . . but it is the fun of it! You just have to throw caution to the wind!
