New Pattern: Snowbound

Don’t worry quilting friends . . .  I haven’t taken leave of my seasonal senses! Summer is right around the corner, but here I am, showing you a winter tablerunner. The reality is, now is the time to plan (and start) your winter and Christmas quilting projects, especially if you are sewing any gifts. So, on this gorgeous day in May, I’m pleased to announce my newest pattern: Snowbound.

I began designing Snowbound last January after my husband and I purchased a new harvest table for our dining room. We retired our old table, which was one of the first “real furniture” pieces we bought when we were newlyweds, and gave it to our son for his apartment. For our new table, I wanted a long, simple runner that I could leave out during the long, snowy season we experience in Minnesota. Snowbound finishes at 78” long by 18” wide.

Being a two-color quilt with a big block repeat, Snowbound has a classic but contemporary feel. The color scheme I chose also reflects the farmhouse style that many of us enjoy. My Snowbound sample features Moda fabrics. On the runner top you will see Moda’s Cross Weave Black (which is more of a deep charcoal color and has a wonderful texture) and the tonal white dot from the Christmas Morning collection by Lella Boutique. The soft gray stripe on the binding and the tonal backing fabric are also from Christmas Morning.

My friend Sylvia tested the pattern using a red background, and it turned out so fabulous that I followed her lead and whipped up a second runner with red as the background fabric.  As soon as that sample is back from the quilter, I’ll post some pictures.  Speaking of quilters, I have to give a round of applause to Woods Edge Quilting for the lovely machine quilting they did on Snowbound. Katy suggested we use a panto called Mod Dotz. She said it reminded her of snowballs.  Good call, Katy!

The Snowbound tablerunner pattern is available in PDF format on my Etsy shop.

Thanks so much for stopping by today! Have a great summer!

  1. I am the tester and LOVED sewing this pattern! Mine is at the long arm quilter’s too. I can’t wait to get it back. It’d be fun to make in gold and white and navy and white too.

    1. Thanks so much, friend! You are a fabulous tester, quilter, and partner in crime! Can’t wait to see your finished runner.

    1. Thanks so much for your kind words, LuElla! You’ve started my day off so nicely!
