Nothing like waiting until the last stitching minute! It’s the end of December, and I’ve just finished this month’s blocks for the Summer Moon Quilt Along with Fat Quarter Shop. Our December assignment includes three pretty blocks: Friendship Star, Rocky Mountain Puzzle and Weathervane.
If you’ve been following along, you know that I’m sewing from my stash. The pink, blue and green prints are from Lella Boutique’s Nest collection, while the background fabric is from Corey Yoder’s Strawberry Jam collection. Here are my December blocks.
Friendship Star
Rocky Mountain Puzzle
Weathervane
Summer Moon is a sampler quilt designed by Carrie Nelson and It’s Sew Emma (the pattern company of Fat Quarter Shop). Although the official FQS quilt along wraps up in February, I still highly recommend this book. There are 24 fun-to-make blocks in three different sizes. The possibilities are endless. You could even host your own monthly sew along with some quilting friends!
Thanks for stopping by to see my progress. Here are links to my previous posts:

Hi Taunja- thanks for the reminder! I got ahead of the game until the birth of my granddaughter and then I forgot all about this!!! Your blocks are gorgeous. I'm finding this sew-along a lot of fun.Happy New Year!!
Love them all! Especially the Weathervane block. Happy New Year!
It looks from your photos you are doing only the larger size blocks—am I correct or not? I am doing this BOM starting next month at our local quilt shop, the teacher could not tell me how much fabric I needed to have so all my blocks had the same background. Do you Know?
Well congratulations on the granddaughter! How wonderful!
I love the Weathervane block too! It would be fun to make a whole quilt from that block!
I am only doing the medium sized blocks, as that's all I really had time for. The Fabric Requirements chart above from Fat Quarter Shop is what is required to make the whole quilt as directed in the book. 🙂
